The Morrie Waud Equine Clinic
by Ashley Goodin
The Morrie Waud Equine Clinic is a state of the art equine referral hospital located in Delavan, WI. Since opening in August of 2007, the MWEC’s goal has been to to be the preeminent equine center for delivery of high quality veterinary specialty services. And, in collaboration with the UW SVM, provide an environment uniquely suited to general and specialty equine veterinary training. The affiliation of the UW SVM and the MWEC exists primarily to support the educational mission of the UW SVM. However, the affiliation also provides ready access to the expertise and equipment available at the UW SVM. The primary goal of the MWEC is to provide excellent service by specialists in an environment simulating private practice that allows training of students and postgraduate veterinarians to become exceptional practitioners.
The facility is staffed by three board certified surgeons: Chris Alford, DVM, MS, DACVS; Joe Foerner, DVM, DACVS; and Jacob T. Goodin, DVM, DACVS. Drs. Alford and Goodin completed a rigorous equine surgical internship following graduation from veterinary school. They both then went on to complete an equine surgery residency, exposing them to all aspects of equine surgery and providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to perform even the most complication procedures. Dr. Foerner is available two days per week for elective procedures. Many people will recognize his name from his time at Illinois Equine Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. All three are Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
